Number of Families Without Health Insurance Continues to Rise

Beside the war in Iraq, the most important issue facing the US that few politicians are talking about is the coming crisis in health care. This issue has the greatest impact on families and children is access to health care. The nation must begin the debate about how we are going to implement a system of Universal Health Insurance. The US is the only western industrialized nation that does not provide health care for all of its citizens.

Take a look at this article:

The Number of People Without Health Insurance Rises Once Again
More people in the United States are without health insurance, according to a new Census Bureau Report, and many of the newly uninsured are children. 46.6 million people in the United States now have no health insurance coverage, 8.3 million of this figure are children.

Torture is a Moral Issue

Torture denies the humanity and the image of God in those who are subject to such treatment. All United Methodists are encouraged to take action to oppose the Bush Administration's efforts to allow "harsh" interrogation techniques employed by the CIA:

A Wesleyan Position on War

Here's an excellent article by renowned Charles Wesley scholar, ST Kimbrough, Jr. The Wesleys were politically conservative and loyal to their king. However, they were adamantly opposed to war. One of their chief objections to war is that the poor always paid the highest price in blood and suffering.
