Bono on the US Govt. Bailout of Wall Street
"It's extraordinary to me that the United States can find $700 billion to save Wall Street and the entire G8 can't find $25 billion dollars to saved 25,000 children who die every day from preventable diseases."
- Bono, rock star and anti-poverty activist.--Posted by Dana Goldstein(Source: The American Prospect blog)
Jesus said, "Then they will answer, 'Lord, when was it that we saw yo hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?' The he will answer them, 'Truly I tell you , just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.' And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life" (Matthew 25:44-46, NRSV).

What may be remarkable, too...
Today the House did NOT pass the $700 Billion bailout plan.
But why?
1) Some cited concerns about it being "too socialist"-- too much intervention by the government in the economy.
2) Others said it was still putting too much burden on US taxpayers.
3) A few raised concerns about the proposal violating federalism-- putting too much power in the hands of the Executive Branch.
4) Reporters and pundits claimed it was because those who voted "Nay" were scared to vote "Yea" in an already tough election season after they had received so many many calls against the original plan, for whatever reasons their constituents may have given.
Those are the four reasons I've heard.
And none of those seem to address the priorities of Jesus, either.
May his peace disturb and keep us all...

Good point by Bono.
I guess that those kids need to make bigger campaign contributions next time.
